The Mt Cook Visitor Centre involved the redevelopment of the existing DOC offices and emergency services facilities into a dedicated Visitor Centre for the region.
Cosgroves provided mechanical, electrical and fire engineering services for this project. Energy efficiency was a big consideration for the new air conditioning system design, while maintaining comfortable condition for visitors.
Emergency power and other infrastructure limitations arising from the location were accounted for within the design. The centre was fully sprinkler protected and included site specific fire safety solutions for issues such as the double height exhibition area.
A successful outcome was achieved through effective collaboration by the design and client team for a project in a remote rural location.
