The Canterbury Linen Services (CLS) project involved provision of a new high-tech stand-alone commercial laundry in Dakota Park, to replace the existing CLS laundry in Hillmorton, Christchurch. The implemented solution incorporated an energy efficient, automated lighting design and a highly energy efficient HVAC system throughout the laundry process areas and attached offices. The building services design was coordinated closely with the client, architect, main contractor and sub-contractors to achieve an innovative and world leading state-of-the-art commercial laundry facility, which cleans and processes a range of hospital and hospitality industry linen and laundry items. The building services design was also closely coordinated to meet the requirements of the specialised laundry process machines, in collaboration with the European provider and specialist installers.
The Douglas Pharmaceuticals NPD Pilot Plant Facility is a 3-storey new build development for Douglas Pharmaceuticals. It comprises laboratory, manufacturing, research, and administrative facilities. The project was technically complex and challenging, combining a range of specialised requirements between each of the different spaces. For example, very specific and strict environmental and pressure requirements were critical for each specialised room and the design ensured that these requirements were met and maintained across multiple systems and different areas. The project was designed in close collaboration with the client to meet their specialised requirements, incorporating compliance with multiple national and international standards.
Cosgroves provided Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical and Fire Consulting for this project at Amisfield Winery, which was a two level, gravity fed Pinot Noir winery in Central Otago. The winery utilised the latest processing technology and is designed to process 600 tonnes of fruit. The custom design technology used in the recycled waste plant was a first in the New Zealand wine industry. The building has been designed to be consistent with the tough, dry and arid Central Otago Environment. Cosgroves worked with the architect to ensure the building services were functional for the winemakers’ needs yet integrate seamlessly with the architectural form.
The BP Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger rollout is a national project which comprises the installation of DC rapid chargers at a number of existing BP sites across the country. Each site requires a specific solution to integrate within the existing fuel station, with new incoming power supplies and a rigorous testing procedure required before chargers can be livened and made available for public use. Cosgroves is assisting in the commissioning phase of the rollout, using a team of engineers from multiple offices across New Zealand to help coordinate and provide independent witnessing of the commissioning process, allowing BP to accelerate the completion and handover of new charger sites.
